Default Unopened Wintersday Gifts

Sorry, this line of topic has been overkilled. But I did a little search and nothing really came up.

If you wait too long to open a Winter/Wintersday gift, will they just open up as candy cane shards? Or will it still be random selection of all the items? Cause someone told me they left their gifts unopened from last year's Wintersday event and they all opened up to be candy cane shards.

And how long is "too long" for this to happen?

As far as I know there is no time limit on opening them. I waited 6 months to open some of my wintersday gifts from last year's event and I still got things other than CC shards, however CC shards are one of the possible things to get out of the gifts.

1. Wrong.
2. Are you implying that the OP should get rid of them into your inventory?

I was thinking about keeping them, too. But then I saw you could get candy cane shards too, so I opened all my 449 presents and I got 52 more presents through the shards inside.
It's your call what you do with your presents. But only now you can trade your shards for new presents.

I'm sure you'll get the same items in 10 days, 10 weeks or 10 months if you open your presents and not just candy cane shards.

As far as I know, the gifts are programmed to contain the same contents whenever they are opened. So you can wait, or you can open immediately. I will ask the Content Programming Team to verify this and get back when I know for certain, but I don't think you need to rush to open.

I kept a few of last years wintersday gifts for several months. When I opened them they still gave me wintersday items.

no need to verify nothing, i had 15 gifts from last year (which by the way look way better than this years gifts... ) they all gave from the normal item pool of last year's. also, i didnt get any candy cane shards from them.

so dont bother making a big fuss about it, its fine, sell your gifts, keep them, never open them, or open them now. IT DOESNT MATTER.
